What is PDF Split Tool
We've been exploring various techniques to alter PDF documents. This includes taking multiple separate PDF files and making them into one combined document, as well as taking a single multi-page PDF document and extracting individual pages or specific ranges of pages into new, separate PDF files. Follow the below steps to get accurate results from our PDF Split Tool without losing any pages.
Open Your Web Browser:
You need to open a web browser such as Google Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. The source mentions that while Chrome is used in the demonstration, the process will be very similar on Firefox and Edge.
Locate and Open Your PDF:
Find your PDF file in your Windows File Explorer. Then, drag the PDF file directly into your opened web browser window. This action will open the PDF within the browser.
Access the Print Function:
Once the PDF is open in your browser, click on the print icon, which is typically located in the top right corner of your web browser. In the print dialogue box that appears, you need to set the "Destination" to "Save as PDF".
Manipulate Pages to Save (Custom Range):
- The print settings might initially be set to "All" pages.
- To select specific pages, click on the "Pages" option (it might say "All") and then choose "Custom".
- Enter the desired page numbers or ranges into the custom field.
- For a single page: Simply type the page number (e.g., "1" for page one).
- For a continuous range: Use a hyphen (e.g., "1-2" to select pages one and two).
- For non-continuous pages or multiple ranges: Use commas to separate them (e.g., "1-2, 4, 6-8" would select pages one, two, four, six, seven, and eight). As you enter these, you'll see a preview of the pages that will be included in the new PDF.
Save the New PDF:
- After setting your custom page range, click on "Save".
- You will then be prompted to give the new split PDF a name (e.g., "page one" or "PDF split").
- Choose where to save the file on your computer and click "Save".
Verify the Split PDF:
Once saved, you can open the newly created PDF to confirm that it contains only the pages you specified. For example, if you saved "page one," it will only contain the first page of the original document. This process allows you to effectively split a multi-page PDF into various smaller PDFs, each containing the specific pages or ranges you need.
